Garden addition

This is my latest garden contraption. It is an attempt to grow vertical. I read about in a magazine and it just sounded so cool I had to try it. You take 4' x 16' cattle panels and bend them into a tunnel. That way vines can grow up both sides and my favorite part-you can walk under it. Well, I can, Konrad can't. Konrad helped me bend the panels (always good to have some muscle around) and then I used fence staples to attach to the inside of the railroad ties I'm using for the sides of my raised bed. The original idea was to attach the panels to the inner railroad ties, but we couldn't get them to bend that much and stay in place safely. Hopefully in June I can post a picture of these panels full of vines of cucumber, cantaloupe, zucchini and pumpkin.

Now, back to that greenhouse...

Jesse's Triplets

Poor Jesse had a load. She delivered triplets, 7, 8 and 9lbs! For triplets that's a lot of poundage! They were born Friday and all are doing well. We did move them all into a stall in the barn so we can keep a better eye on them and so Jesse can be fed extra food. The chickens have also figured out that we are giving her corn in her feed. So along with a nanny and three kids there are usually two or three chickens in the stall as well.

In fact, I went down there tonight and two chickens are sleeping in there!

They are so pretty, we each have a favorite. I like the black one with spotted ears, Kolin and Konrad like the white one with brown on it's head and back end, and Kaden likes the brown one the best. Unfortunately they are all males so we won't get to keep any of them :(

As Promised...

These two little guys were born Saturday. In this picture they are almost 48 hours old. They weighed 5 and 5 1/2 pounds.

Sick and Tired

This has been the scene at the Kaul house for 11 days now. Yes, that is a vomit pad on the floor. I tell them I don't care what you have to do, but DON'T GET IT ON THE CARPET! They passed around a virus and then one got an ear infection, the other bronchitis. They started feeling better and Konrad got a stomach bug and then gave that back to the boys. This is why I don't eat or drink after my children, or anyone else for that matter. Konrad is really hoping that I don't come down with anything because he and I both know that when Mama is sick the house shuts down.

New Goats

We have 8 new baby goats and more expected any day. Two sets of twins born Saturday, triplets born Friday, and a single born earlier this week. All are well, so far 7 males and one female.
I had misplaced the camera but found it today! I'll get some pictures up soon.
