Garden

I was having trouble uploading pictures, so this post is long overdue, it's from this summer.
The peppers are really thriving this summer. They like the lower temperatures. I have tons of green peppers, that's the reason I made green pepper jelly. I figured, what the heck? I also have many of them frozen for to make stuffed peppers later. While the peppers have done well, tomatoes have not. I think it's all the rain and consistantly moist conditions.

We picked 28 pounds of Concord grapes from our garden! I made several batches of grape jelly and it is very tasty. This is a picture of my boiling pot of grape jelly.

Schooling

This is Kaden hard at work on his math lesson. I love homeschooling and getting to watch them work and learn! Doesn't he just look so studious?

October Pickins'

We were expecting a frost so I went out and cleaned off all the big stuff from the pepper plants. There are bell, banana and jalapenos. Need a pepper?

Shooting with Friends

In early October we took a trip south to visit some friends in Georgia. They have a cozy home in the forest complete with a fishing pond. Kolin and his friend, Adam, practiced shooting clay targets with their BB guns. We also visited a local farm and watched piglet races, explored a corn maze, went on a hayride, and ate way too much kettle corn.
Yes, they are barefoot and in their pajamas! A little redneck never hurt anyone :)

Camping Trip

We had a great time camping with our friends. We hiked, explored deep cracks and riverbanks, and of course roasted hot dogs and marshmallows! Konrad and the boys tried out a pop-up camper and Kandy braved it alone in a tent...with an air mattress ;)

Halloween 2013

This year the boys dressed up as a cowboy and a Peregrine falcon. The peregrine falcon can dive with speeds up to 200mph to catch its prey! After making a falcon costume full of hand cut feathers, I was relieved to put together the cowboy :) Stormy weather pushed our trick or treating back a day, but they enjoyed trick or treating with their friends. In our group we had Squanto the indian, a outlaw cowboy, two peregrin falcons and five superheros.
